Exciting Announcement: Successful Completion of the First Online Training Program!

I am thrilled to share the success of our inaugural online training program, which was truly a special experience for me. It was an absolute privilege to impart knowledge and skills to new social workers venturing into the challenging field of oncology social work. This opportunity has been a long-standing dream of mine, and I am grateful for the chance to contribute to the growth of this specialty area.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the participants of this maiden training workshop for their trust and dedication. Together, we have embarked on a journey of growth, and I eagerly anticipate the prospect of presenting more workshops in the near future.

I am looking forward to the next session. Helpful information regarding Distress assessment and the high standard we should strive for in out practice. The NCCN distress thermometer is a helpful tool. The reading of Caring for the Whole patient has been informative in ways in which to improve patient care. Excellent content, the essential role of the Social Worker within the team, and making education the team on our role. I loved the case studies, real life examples of how you worked through the patient and family journey. Thank you for the most excellent 7 weeks. It has been most encouraging, and I have learned so much. Please put my name down for the next course.

The presentation included top line information and pictures that can be used in
practice, as well as additional sources of information to equip the social worker and
patients with knowledge. The presenter is extremely insightful and knowledgeable about the subject, which made the presentation very interesting. She also provided time for questions, input and group discussions which provide for a great learning experience. Very informative and feeling privileged to be able to attend this training.

Feel much more empowered and knowledgeable on Social Workers role in treatment process and the importance of marketing and advocating for our position as part of the multidisciplinary team! Excellent presentation. Time conscious. Clear and systematic approach.Resources and tools given very helpful. Exciting Future Endeavors:

As we celebrate the success of our first program,

I am pleased to announce that we are already planning new online Orientation training workshops for social workers new in oncology social work in June and July 2024. Stay tuned for updates on dates. 

Cost R1800 for 7 weeks  on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm 

Advanced Skills Building Workshop Details:

  • Duration: 4 weeks, with sessions lasting 1.5 to 2 hours per week
  • Cost: R1500
  • Themes: The upcoming workshop will focus on advanced skills building for oncology social workers, covering topics such as:
    • Solution-oriented therapeutic approaches
    • Strategies for dealing with difficult patients and families.
    • Coping with loss, grief, and bereavement
    • Ethical considerations in oncology social work
